On Saturday the 10th of June, 2023, the Church of the Nazarene held its Children’s World Quiz at the 30th General Assembly held at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A.

There were approximately thirteen hundred quizzers participating in the event including three quizzers from the Caribbean Field: Jonathan and Nathan Rouse, from Barbados, and Zoé Williams, from Trinidad and Tobago. The dream to participate in this global quiz event began six years ago in the hearts of district leaders who observed the event at the last General Assembly held in 2017. However, due to the cost of travel and logistics with visa applications, many who desired to attend did not make it to the event in 2023.

The Caribbean quizzers received a warm welcome from the Global Quiz Director, Rev. Dorothy Whipp, and her team. They prepared pins for the quizzers from Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, which were used in trading with other quizzers from the many districts in the USA and Canada. Quizzers attached traded pins to their lanyards and proudly wore them throughout the convention. The trading of pins provided a perfect opportunity to make introductions and start conversations with quizzers. Each quizzer also received draw-string bags with a World Quiz T-shirt, a water bottle, a wrist band, and snacks.

The quiz event took place in two events, with Red Level quizzing (ages 6 to  beginning at 8:30 a.m. and Blue Level quizzing (ages 9 to 12) at 12:30 pm that day. Jonathan, Nathan, and Zoe participated in the Blue Level quiz and attained Gold medal awards upon completion, having missed only 2-3 questions out of 40 questions in the two-round quiz event.

“Children’s Bible Study and Quiz Events are a fun and engaging way to involve children in bible study and the excitement of quizzing events.” said Rev. Alvilene Williams, T&T District CBQ Director.

Through this six-year program, children study three Old Testament and three New Testament books. In local churches, across many districts, small groups of children and their coaches meet weekly to study scripture portions and then gather for quiz events for fun and fellowship.
