“With missionary children, Jesus will reach the whole world.”

A gathering that sowed missionary passion in the children of the South District of Mexico.

The celebration
With joy and gratitude, on June 20–21, 2025, the first Children’s Missionary Orientation Camp (COMI) was held in the Frailesca zone of the South District of Mexico, under the theme “With missionary children, Jesus will reach the whole world.”
The event took place at Salón Quinta Belén, in the Galeana neighborhood of Villaflores, Chiapas, marking a milestone in missionary work with children in the region.

Participation and purpose
Thanks to the collaboration of local churches and enthusiastic promotion, 150 children from 16 churches participated, accompanied by 38 caregivers, 34 collaborators, and 3 district visitors, for a total of 222 attendees. Over two days, the children were trained, encouraged, and oriented in their missionary calling, recognizing that mission begins at home, in the community, and reaches to the ends of the earth.

Training and workshops
The camp featured the valuable participation of several workshop leaders who shared with passion and commitment. Among them was Missionary Jennifer Martínez Vázquez, who taught “What Is Missions?” and shared:

“It was an enriching time for the boys and girls. They understood the need to fulfill the mission of sharing the gospel of Christ and showed a willingness to attend to the specific missions God has for each one.”

Other topics included “Integral Mission,” “What Do I Need to Know to Be a Missionary?” “Knowing the Reality of the World,” “Urban Missionaries,” and “Domestic Missionaries,” which helped strengthen a sense of calling and service.

Experiences and fruit
Throughout the camp there were moments of Bible teaching, praise, dynamics, prayer, and creative activities, helping the children understand their role in the global mission of the Church. The atmosphere was one of joy, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Many children expressed their desire to serve God in their churches, communities, and even in other cultures, showing sensitivity to God’s call from an early age.

Looking ahead

Following the success of this first COMI, the MNI team in the Frailesca zone plans to continue with:

  • Regular meetings for missionary motivation in local churches.
  • Creation of children’s missionary clubs in each church.
  • Mini-COMIs and guided missionary retreats/visits for ongoing formation.
  • Involving children in local and regional missions events.

The zone’s COMI director, Ma. Guadalupe Cholac Méndez, thanked pastors, leaders, parents, collaborators, and the children “for making this event possible,” trusting that “the seed sown will bear abundant fruit in the generations to come.”

Carlos Vásquez, President of MNI of the South District of Mexico, also celebrated the impact of this gathering, which strengthens the missionary vision in Nazarene children.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6, NIV)
