Every talent placed in God’s hands can communicate hope and salvation.

From May 12–14, CREACOM 2026: “Created to communicate” was held, a comprehensive training space aimed at the Meso-Central Area of the Mesoamerica Region (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico), which also included participants from countries such as Guatemala and Mexico.

A space that responds to a real need

This event, held at Parque Sendas in San José, Costa Rica, is part of a regional strategy to equip those who are already serving or desire to serve in the area of communications. Its purpose was to equip leaders with practical tools and strengthen the calling to communicate the message of salvation through Jesus.

Comprehensive training: technical and spiritual

Over the three days, participants experienced a combination of devotionals, specialized workshops, and hands-on practice. In the mornings and evenings, the Word of God was central, while during the day workshops were held in podcasting, video, photography, multimedia, and digital marketing.

Participants were able to apply what they learned through practical sessions both outdoors and in audio and video recording studios, strengthening their skills in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Workshop leaders included Brian Utter, Global Coordinator of World Mission Broadcast (podcast workshop); Dr. Heather McLaughlin, faculty member at Olivet University (video workshop); Gabriel Meinert, Olivet University graduate (photography workshop); Hugo Lucero, Communications Coordinator for the Meso-Central Area (digital marketing and social media workshop); and Eng. Steven Vargas (software and multimedia workshop).

Devotional times were also led by Crystal Gibbons, Global Missions Communications Coordinator; Carlos de la Cruz, Strategy Coordinator for the Meso-Central Area; Natanael Picavea, Mesoamerica Region Podcast Coordinator; and Carlos Salazar, Regional Communications Coordinator.

Moments that marked lives

The event began with the participation of Carlos Salazar, Regional Communications Coordinator, who shared the purpose of CREACOM 2026 and emphasized the call to tell the story of Jesus. Through part of his testimony, he encouraged participants to surrender their gifts to the Lord and use them to communicate the message of salvation with excellence.

One of the most significant moments took place after a devotional led by Brian Utter, when he invited participants to surrender their gifts to the Lord. Many responded by coming to the altar in prayer, committing their talents to God’s service.

In addition, workshop leaders were recognized and prayed over in a special moment of gratitude. The event concluded with awards for the best teams in podcast, video, photography, and marketing.

CREACOM 2026 was made possible thanks to the valuable support of World Mission Broadcast (WMB), led by Brian Utter, whose partnership was key to the development of this training experience.

Transformed lives and renewed purpose

With a total of 72 participants, including attendees, workshop leaders, and staff, CREACOM 2026 directly impacted 35 local churches represented.

Carlos Nyreen, from Iglesia del Nazareno Sublime Gracia, shared:
“Six months ago I was praying with my pastor because I struggled to share about God with others, but I felt called to serve through my digital gifts. At this conference, I saw how God uses communication, video, and digital tools to impact lives locally and globally. This confirmed my purpose, and I decided to offer myself as an instrument to serve God and help others know His Word.”

Patricia Moreno, from El Renuevo Colón, shared:
“CREACOM reaffirmed the purpose God has for me. It strengthened in me the direction that the message God wants to communicate should take in marketing, testimonies, and podcasts. It was a breakthrough for me! I thank God for every communicator who shares His message through digital platforms.”

Looking ahead

As a follow-up, a communication channel has been established among participants to continue providing tools and support for their ministries, focused on communications. In addition, future CREACOM events are planned in other areas of the Mesoamerica Region.
