“Where Christ shines, hope is reborn.”

The screening of “JESÚS, LUZ DEL MUNDO” (Jesus, Light of the World), organized by the Costa Rica Central District NDI and district ministries, brought together 140 people and resulted in eight decisions for salvation. Seven churches participated, inviting their members and friends, and helping to strengthen ongoing discipleship efforts.

The celebration

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Cinépolis, Plaza Lincoln (Moravia, San José, Costa Rica), the Costa Rica Central NDI coordinated a screening, together with VID, NazKids, Crecer, Discipleship and Coffee, of “JESÚS LUZ DEL MUNDO” (Jesus Light of the World). 140 people attended, coming from 5 Nazarene churches and 2 invited guest churches, in an atmosphere of worship, fellowship, and mission focus.

What happened

The welcome included a family photo by the official movie poster to memorialize the event. In the theater, Yorleny Herz (director of Crecer) gave a brief introduction based on John 8:12, highlighting the film’s purpose for everyday life. Gospel tracts were shared, there was reflection after the screening and a prayer of faith; in addition, those who accepted Jesus received a commemorative gift to mark this step in their spiritual journey.

Ministries and leaders who served

The event was organized and supported by district teams: Rebeca Martínez Abarca (NDI Director), Wilberth Picado (VID Director – Men in the Image of God), Aleida Rojas (NazKids Director), Yorleny Herz (Crecer Director – women’s ministry), Leyla Ramírez (Discipleship Director), and Adriana Varela & Manuel Amador (Café Directors).

Fruit and follow-up

Eight people accepted the Lord, and the evangelism and discipleship teams coordinated personal prayer, contact registration, and connection to groups/visits, ensuring support from and roots in the local church.

Testimonies and impact:

“I had been going through very difficult weeks… I felt without hope or direction… my surprise was that Jesus spoke to me through the film… I accepted Jesus into my heart and today I see my life with a future full of hope.”Daniel Ismael Ramírez.

“I thought it would be very childish… however, I found it to be an excellent production… it captures the attention of both children and adults… and it presents the central message wonderfully.”Aleida Rojas.

“We loved seeing how the district churches united and worked together; we believe a season of impact is coming for Costa Rica’s Central District.”Rebeca Martínez Abarca, NDI Director.

Looking ahead

We will keep lighting screens and hearts. The district will strengthen follow-up groups, visits, and opportunities to serve, so that each decision becomes a transformed life. As Scripture reminds us: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12, NIV).

The Church keeps moving because Christ keeps working.
