The annual convention of the SDMI department of the Barbados District got off to a good start on Friday 16th February 2018 at the Bank Hall Church of the Nazarene. We were exceedingly privileged and thankful to have Rev. Monte Cyr, our Regional Discipleship Coordinator, to commence training on level 2 of the MLM Leadership training. This three [3] hour session was attended by approximately 110 persons.

The Business aspect of our Convention got underway on Saturday morning at 9.30, after a short worship session and devotional led by our Adult Ministries husband and wife team of Myrell and Roger Rouse respectively.

Our recently elected District Superintendent Rev. Dr. Martel Farley presided over his first SDMI convention, and did so with excellence. The convention heard the comprehensive report of the SDMI District Chair, Sis. Jeanafer Greaves, who was re-elected to serve another two-year term, as well as delegates who attended General Assembly in Indiana in June 2017. The only other ballot for the convention was for a SDMI board member to serve for a three year period. Of the four nominees seeking election, Ms. Kamilah Cadogan emerged the successful candidate to join the SDMI district board.

After lunch, the training session, comprising some 140 persons, resumed where Rev. Monte continued the other three modules to complete the Level 2.

The District SDMI took time to recognize and present long service awards to Sunday School Superintendents who had served at their respective churches for ten years or more. Those recognized were: Kerri King – Foursquare; Patricia Gulstone – Speightstown and Fay Seale – Newbury.

Before concluding our District Superintendent offered special prayers for Rev. Monte Cyr, after which the convention was concluded.
