The Church of the Nazarene in Mesoamerica joins the 40 Days of Prayer and Pentecost Celebration
Since 2004, the Mesoamerica Region has promoted a powerful season of spiritual preparation leading up to Pentecost Sunday: the 40 Days of Prayer. What began in the former MAC Region has now become an annual call that continues to transform lives.
Over the years, hundreds of Nazarenes across the region have joined this spiritual journey with fervor, being challenged to strengthen their prayer lives and open their hearts to the transformation of the Holy Spirit. The year 2025 was no exception.
This year’s prayer themes were: worship, fellowship, discipleship (being like Jesus), ministry, and evangelism. The daily prayer guides were shared via the Mesoamerica Region’s social media platforms, reaching a total of 2,753 downloads—a clear sign of interest and active participation.
“Hundreds of local churches, entire districts, and zones across the Region came together for this special time of prayer, concluding with united Pentecost celebrations,” said Ana María Crocker, Mesoamerica NMI Coordinator.
Celebrations across the Region
During the final celebrations, churches gathered to pray, worship, share communion, hear God’s Word, and testify about the work of the Holy Spirit in their congregations.
- In the Mexico South Border District, over 1,400 people gathered at the district campgrounds to close this season. Missionaries Ana Zoila and Wilfredo Marciaga, on tour in the region, shared God’s Word. District NMI President Shadia Franco emphasized how God miraculously provided food for over 2,000 attendees, even though they had only prepared for 1,400. “It was a powerful experience—not only because of the missionaries’ visit but also the way God met our needs,” she shared.
- The Costa Rica Central District celebrated Pentecost at the SENDAS campus, with around 725 people in attendance, including 125 children, who had a special children’s Pentecost service. The message was brought by Carlos de la Cruz, Central Field Strategy Coordinator for Mesoamerica.
- The East Mexico District held their closing celebration virtually, with 85 people connecting to pray, worship, and receive the Word.
- In the Windward Virgin Islands District, believers held a prayer walk, giving thanks and sharing testimonies of what God has done in their lives—inviting others to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
- The Church of the Nazarene El Progreso, in Panama, visited 26 homes during the 40 Days of Prayer, sharing times of communion. They also collected a special offering for the World Evangelism Fund (WEF).
“Many lives were transformed and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, and committed to share the message of salvation,” concluded Ana María Crocker. “We can only give thanks to the thousands of Nazarenes who joined this powerful time of prayer, asking God to heal our land.”
