This workshop about Caravans, a type of Christian Scouting, by Raquel Ramos, was given by DNI of the NorCentral Field of the Mesoamerica Region, Church of the Nazarene.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the Caravan program for kids is to help elementary-age children learn and grow mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Caravan is a time for children to learn how they can be the kind of people God\u00a0wants them to be in all areas of their lives. It also helps children develop\u00a0an appreciation and understanding of their Nazarene heritage and\u00a0beliefs.<\/p>\n
Caravan meets once a week, usually on Wednesday night. Children\u00a0are assigned to one of the three major groups\u2014Searchers\u00a0<\/span>(first and second\u00a0graders),\u00a0Explorers\u00a0<\/span>(third and fourth graders),\u00a0Adventurers\u00a0<\/span>(fifth and\u00a0sixth graders)\u2014according to their grade in school. Each group is under\u00a0the direction of one or more adult leaders who are called \u201cguides.\u201d<\/p>\n Caravan is a total ministry to the total child. The badge awards are divided into four areas of development\u2014mental, physical, social, and spiritual. Children can earn badges in each area. Caravan\u00a0Searchers\u00a0<\/span>earn a fifth\u00a0badge.
