\u201cIn Spirit and in Truth\u201d: Cuba Celebrates its first National Congress on Pastoral Theology<\/em><\/p>\n

Over 300 participants gathered for the event that featured deep theological reflections, pastoral ordinations, and a historic graduation.<\/p>\n

PUNTA BRAVA, HAVANA, CUBA<\/strong> \u2013 From July 3 to 5, 2025, the first-ever National Congress on Pastoral Theology of the Church of the Nazarene in Cuba took place at the facilities of Cuban Nazarene Theological Seminary (SETENAC) in Punta Brava, Havana. The congress was held under the theme \u201cIn Spirit and in Truth.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This historic gathering provided a unique space for learning, reflection, and spiritual renewal<\/strong> centered on the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church of the Nazarene in Cuba. The main plenary sessions focused on three key areas: The Spirit and the Church<\/em> (past, present, and future of the Nazarene Church in Cuba), The Spirit and the Call<\/em>, and The Spirit and Ministry<\/em>. Five keynote presentations were enriched by the participation of academic leaders and engaged audience members.<\/p>\n

The event was planned and organized by Cuban Nazarene Theological Seminary<\/strong>, with the support of the Mesoamerica Regional Office, the Central Mesoamerica Field Office, the Regional Theological Education Office, and the four Nazarene districts in Cuba.<\/p>\n

The congress opened with a message from Dr. Carlos S\u00e1enz<\/strong>, regional director for Mesoamerica, and included a special word for pastors by Dr. Christian Sarmiento<\/strong>, jurisdictional general superintendent. A deeply meaningful moment was the ordination of fifteen (15) pastors<\/strong>, a testimony to the vitality of ministry in the country.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with the largest graduation ceremony in the history of Cuban Nazarene Theological Seminary<\/strong>, with a total of 192 graduates<\/strong> from various academic programs and awarded 51 certificates<\/strong> to students from short-term courses. This milestone reflects the strong partnership between the seminary and local churches.<\/p>\n
