After three years away from meeting in person, the Trinidad and Tobago District NMI Council made their way back to their District’s Children’s Bible Camp on April 12, 2023 to tell the missions story to fifty-seven (57) eager children. This session was spearheaded by the District NMI Children’s Coordinator, Sis Carol Garner-Dupigny.<\/p>\n
Props for their time together included the display of the flags from many nations, a banner featuring the theme and a signing board with the picture of the featured missionary, Danielle Miller.<\/p>\n
The mission story \u201cDanielle Miller, Girl from the Pine” was delivered by Sis. Keisha A. Blaise, who was quite engaging. The children learned of Danielle\u2019s experience growing up in Barbados and travelling to Jamaica on a mission trip, where she received God\u2019s call to Missions. She is currently fulfilling that call as a missionary in Guyana. As the Caribbean say, \u2018From the Caribbean to the Caribbean\u2019.<\/p>\n
Leigh Hope, District N.M.I. President for Trinidad and Tobago, gave the \u2018pep talk\u2019, a word of encouragement to the children that morning. She encouraged them to become involved in Mission activities such as praying for Danielle and other missionaries around the world, to be on the alert for God’s call and to give whatever they can to Missions. She helped them understand that even if they wanted to become a teacher, they could also serve as a missionary in the Church of the Nazarene. The children were very intrigued, and curious to learn more about how they could become involved.<\/p>\n
A thirteen (13) year old girl asked Sis Carol, \u201cMiss can I go on a Mission trip?\u201d Her answer was, \u201cSure you can.\u201d Then she saw the little girl’s eyes light up. It was a heartwarming and hopeful moment for her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the story of Danielle Miller was very inspiring. I’m not convinced that I want to become a missionary, but I’m sure some of the other campers were inspired to be missionaries. Said David, a 10-year-old camper.<\/p>\n
“The session (with District NDI President, Cindy Ann Collymore) was very engaging and impactful. I want our children to become active participants in doing missions. They are ready.” Said Carol Garner-Dupigny, District NMI Children’s\u00a0Coordinator.<\/p>\n
The District NMI Council plans to engage the children on the district in becoming involved in Alabaster later this year.<\/p>\n
