The rally sought to encourage the church to celebrate the rich legacy of the Church of the Nazarene of pioneering churches in new areas and to challenge everyone to say yes to God’s call to GO, carry the Gospel to the places where the church is not yet.

The NMI Council created three different videos. The first video, “The Celebration,” shared the work of three pioneer missionaries to Peru, Africa and India. Their accounts were taken from the 2020 NMI Reading books. The second video, “The Challenge,” was a look at the spiritual harvest in urban areas, spotlighting the Genesis Initiative, and amongst unreached people groups. It issued a challenge to all who sense God’s call to missions to say yes. The third video, “The Case,” highlighted the birth of the newest organized church on our district, Oropune Community Church of the Nazarene.

The Word of God was preached by the pastor of the Oropune Community Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Fazim Gyan, who shared about the need for disciples of Christ to be compassionate, prayerful and obedient to the call to go.

Amongst the viewership was a Regional NMI Coordinator, Ana Crocker de Diaz, our Caribbean Field NMI Coordinator, Rev. Donnamie Ali, and Their District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Victor George, who brought greetings to the viewers.

The District NMI Council also took the opportunity to pay public tribute to former District NMI President, current District NMI Vice-President Leonard Grant, for his 23 years of committed service to the District NMI in various capacities. Tributes poured in from two former District NMI Presidents, Rev. Donnamie Ali and Marcia Quimby, former District NMI Secretary Pearl Harris, District Superintendent Rev. Dr. Victor George and District NMI President Sis Leigh Hope.

In the words of the Caribbean Field NMI Coordinator Rev. Donnamie Ali, “This Missional Rally was a combination of vital historical details, recognition of exemplary service, encouragement to become part of God’s army in different ways that included most of all reaching where the Church was not yet. Bringing everything together was an excellent use of modern technology. Hats off to Leigh Hope, T&T District NMI President, and her team.”

YouTube statistics shared there were 206 unique viewing households who logged in to view the live broadcast, and peak concurrent viewership.

The rally can be viewed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/boluF-gUs_E

Source: Pastor Augustus Andrews

The Trinidad and Tobago District Nazarene Missions International (NMI) hosted their first virtual Missional Rally on Sunday, Sept. 19, guided by the theme ‘Going ‘Where the Church is not yet,’ inspired by the scripture from Matthew 9:37-38.
