From April 16-18, 2021, the Caribbean region in Mesoamerica held its first virtual Cross-Cultural Orientation (CCO), with 28 people representing 7 countries, including one person from the North Central region.<\/p>\n
The CCO is a space for youth and adults from Nazarene churches to answer their call to missions or find their purpose in ministry.<\/p>\n
Timmeon Spencer, who was appointed at the end of 2020 as the new Global Missions Coordinator for the Caribbean, was confronted with the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic that led to restrictions and limitations in several countries. Spencer wondered how he could reach future missionaries in the middle of a global pandemic. His answer made history as he held his first-ever virtual Cross-Cultural Orientation in the region.<\/p>\n
“This weekend turned out to be both a challenge and a great blessing,” Spencer said, as he commented that they had reached many more cultures and nations in this virtual CCO than in previous years with the face-to-face event. He also said that despite the poor internet reception and other challenges that arose, God manifested Himself throughout all the workshops and activities for those three days.<\/p>\n
“It was a blessing to see that the participants were very attentive and engaged and that they were impacted by all that was said and done during the event.” “One of the highlights of our time together was the closing session and celebration service where a powerful missionary message was delivered, challenging the participants to go<\/strong>, and more than half of the participants responded by saying, Yes, send me!” Spencer remarked.<\/p>\n Source: Timmeon Spencer, Global Missions Coordinator for the Caribbean<\/p>\n\n\t\t
