The mobilization of the Church of the Nazarene in Honduras in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Eta is ongoing in both districts of the country. Thanks to donations from the local churches, in the last few days district Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) has taken water, clothing and food to the communities of: La Planeta, La Lima, Santa Martha, Villas de R\u00edo, and Calan. In Calan they met a Nazarene pastor who had lost his house and all of his belongings when the river flooded the entire community. These communities are in the Honduras Northwest District.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can hardly find the words to explain it. The situation of our brothers and sisters in the north zone is very difficult. There has been enormous damage,\u201d said Rexcenbrik Aguilar, the Southeast Central District NCM coordinator who traveled to the area. \u201cIt brought us to tears to see so many children in the street. The church is completely damaged. The tears of the sisters in the church reflect what we were experiencing. The people came up to us and asked for water and food.\u201d<\/p>\n

The deliveries were a made with help from the leadership of the Southeast Central District and the Las Colinas Church of the Nazarene, which is a donation center for NCM in the same district, and where other churches continue to bring donations. Various trips to different parts of the country have left from this center in order to make deliveries to those most in need.<\/p>\n

A group of Christian young people from a different denomination contacted the NCM leaders from the Southeast Central District through their ministry Facebook page because they wanted to collaborate with a Christian shelter. They brought provisions to the Iglesia del Nazareno El Buen Samaritano<\/em> (Good Samaritan Church of the Nazarene) where 80 people staying.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod is using many people and families to bless others. We feel a lot of joy, and great happiness with our Lord, because He has been merciful,\u201d said Rexcenbrik Aguilar. \u201cWe thank every leader of (compassionate ministry), pastors and lay people of the Southeast Central District for your help. Let\u2019s keep moving forward with enthusiasm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rev. Etan Bardales, Northwest District superintendent, added that he is grateful to God because he has seen the help and mobilization of all of the local churches to respond to the havoc left by Hurricane Eta.<\/p>\n

Let us continue in prayer for the places still inaccessible, and for the church that is serving.<\/p>\n
