In spite of the economic difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the church is on the move! In Oaxaca, M\u00e9xico, a mission-type church keeps growing and building a place to worship. Also, a small fishing community remains committed to supporting the district and the World Evangelism Fund, contributing towards world evangelism.<\/p>\n

In the month of September, District Superintendent Nicol\u00e1s R\u00edos Guzm\u00e1n presided over several church year-end meetings throughout the district (this district has 80 organized churches and over 7,000 members). In the community of Rinc\u00f3n Ju\u00e1rez, a small fishing community with very limited economic resources, DS Nicol\u00e1s was prepared to hear stories of how the church was not able to meet their budgets due to the financial impact of COVID-19. Instead, he was elated that the church joyfully greeted him with their district offering and world evangelism offering in plastic bags. Nicolas stated that he was reminded of the brothers and sisters of the Philippian church that supported the Apostle Paul.<\/p>\n

In another trip this week, Pastor Nicol\u00e1s had the privilege of visiting the Church Type Mission Shaddai located in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. A little over a year ago, the leaders of this new work told him that they were \u201csowing\u201d concrete columns by faith as they were not sure how they would be able to raise funds to progress with the construction. In spite of the economic difficulties that their community is facing, the church has been able to pour the concrete floor and has just finished putting on the roof this past Monday. Although it is not yet an organized church, they have 50 people meeting there.<\/p>\n
