For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.” Matthew 16:13-20

This pandemic has put us under different types of stress that have arisen due to fear or uncertainty, fear of the future, a lack of work or money. Questions such as “What is going to happen?” and “When will it end?” come into our minds and we don’t have the answers.

Individuals and families are constantly being tested to know who they are and in whom they have put their trust. The following questions arise: “How are you getting out of this?” “How will you come out of it?” “How will your family come out of all that is happening and is yet to come?”

We know that some families will suffer the loss of loved ones, the loss of a business or a home, etc., but emotionally and spiritually, how will they be affected? How will you be affected? As a Christian, will your faith be stronger or will you become angry and distant from God? Maybe even feeling that He did not take care of you and that you had to fight against everything on your own in order to make it through this situation, to overcome the lack your family suffered. During that struggle, you may even have forgotten who you are.

When you read this, dear friend, I want you to consider “Who is Christ to me?” Above all, this is the question He has been asking you during this pandemic and how you respond will define your walk. If he is Christ the Son of God, I want to completely assure you that he has taken care of you and sustained you. He has given you comfort and peace in your time of need. He took care of your children and your family. His Holy Spirit whom he has left has given and will give you wisdom, creativity and strength so that you can make it through the present calamities and those that are yet to come. In the end, you will be better than when you started.

As his disciples did, however, you need to be clear in your mind, heart and spirit about who Christ is for you. This was the only way the disciples were able to face both the good and bad situations they experienced and, even when they faced death, they emerged victoriously because they knew in whom they believed.

Our world, society, country and family are being tried and tested, and knowing in whom we trust will help us to understand that neither height, nor depth, nor anything will be able to separate us from the great love of Christ. Walk in this truth.

May God help you in all that you do today. Believe that Christ, the one in whom we trust, will not leave us and will always walk with us.Covid-19 Response Team, Church of the Nazarene Mesoamerica

“He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah!
