The centennial celebration of Central Church of the Nazarene in Cob\u00e1n was celebrated from August 4-11. This was the first church organized by the denomination in Guatemala and Central America, in 1919.<\/p>\n

Every evening included special presentations by stringed, marimba, and choral musical groups. Rev. Edyn Garc\u00eda, pastor of Central Church of Cob\u00e1n; Rev. Danilo Sol\u00eds, former district superintendent of Verapaz North District; Rev. Francisco H. Cho, current district superintendent; Rev. C\u00e9sar Ayala, superintendent of the Central District of Guatemala; and Rev. Gustavo Crocker, General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene preached.<\/p>\n

Rev. Crocker invited the church to remain in communion with the Holy Spirit to be effective in fulfilling God\u2019s mission and to continue the movement of holiness and missional spirit.<\/p>\n

The district superintendent reminded the church of its historic responsibility to \u201cpreserve and transfer the teaching and experience of entire sanctification to the new generation of Nazarenes\u00bb, and invited the attendees to consecrate their lives to the service of God.<\/p>\n

In the final service a commemorative plaque was presented, as well as a certificate testifying to the work of the church for 100 years, making special mention of the missionaries who served in that work. This was signed by the General Superintendent, the area strategy coordinator, and the district superintendent.<\/p>\n

\u00abIt has been 100 years of work of this beloved church that gave birth to many missions that later became organized churches, to now seeing a multiplication of churches and districts throughout Guatemala,\u00bb said Pastor Edyn Garcia. He also added, \u201cWe give glory to God for the celebration of the 100 years of this church, now to be called Centennial Church. We pray for the new generation of Nazarenes, who start now to write a new history of the Holiness Church.\u201d<\/p>\n
