The Mexico Oaxaca Northwest District held a Cross Cultural Orientation Oct. 18-20 at the Etla Church of the Nazarene. Thirty people participated.<\/p>\n
Josue Barrera, pastor of the Etla Church of the Nazarene and district communications coordinator, said that the event is part of the district\u2019s goal to encourage the growth of the church where there is no Nazarene presence, and learn more about how the Church of the Nazarene works in order to make Christ-like disciplines.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a challenging time, a time of learning, and it made a great impact in the lives of the young people who attended as well as the local church which helped with the event,\u201d added Pastor Barrera.<\/p>\n
Regional and field coordinators led the different workshops: Scott Armstrong, Global Mission and Genesis Coordinator; Ana Maria Crocker, Nazarene Missions International Coordinator; and Claudia Cruz Martinez, South Mexico Field Global Mission Coordinator.<\/p>\n
Those who attended were challenged to see the needs around them and those who had not heard the message of salvation with God\u2019s eyes. They were also encouraged to let go of their own comfort and their normal methods in order to present the gospel in creative ways. Ana Cracker spoke about the importance of the local church as a support for missions around the world. The activity closed with a message from District Superintendent Elias Betanzos where he motivated the group to \u201cBe a generation that makes a difference\u2014that does something for God.\u201d<\/p>\n
