Erika Chaves from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in Haiti shared the following report after Hurricane Irma swept over the country.<\/p>\n

Various communities were flooded in the northeast zone of Haiti: Karakol, Folibete, Guanamet, Otwo and Ferye.\u00a0 The district superintendent has been unable to make contact with one church in this zone, which is the church in Wanamet.\u00a0 It has rained heavily in that area.\u00a0 In the Hinche zone there have been significant rains and flooding.\u00a0 The district superintendent and his family are well and grateful for everyone\u2019s prayers.<\/p>\n

In the city of Puerto Paz in the Northeast District, District Superintendent Guerrier Ennery and his family are well.\u00a0 Up to now he has not heard any bad reports from the churches in his district. However, he knows that there are many who have taken refuge in the government and UN coordinated shelters.\u00a0 He said that there are some who have lost their crops.<\/p>\n

The Lower Northeast District Superintendent Sainlidieu Leger reported from the Jean Rabel zone that his family is well.\u00a0 He said that there have been intermittent rains and winds, but up to now nothing terrible.\u00a0 He will have more information about specific pastors and churches later.<\/p>\n

We know that there have been rains in the entire department of Artibonite, but up to now there is not much news from that area. It might be tomorrow before there is more information.<\/p>\n

One bit of news was that one of several bridges in the principle route north collapsed, and various organizations have said that it will be difficult to make the connections necessary to repair the bridge.\u00a0 Still, if the water level goes down, vehicles will still be able to cross.\u00a0 Also, the north border with the Dominican Republic was closed because of the damages to the bridge.<\/p>\n
