The first week of January 2014, a medical clinic was provided to 250 children of the Widows and Orphans Program in the West District of Guatemala. This program is sponsored by Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and since 1994, the MidAmerica Nazarene University of Kansas, sends a group of seniors in Nursing to do medical evaluations to the children of the program.<\/p>\n

The group consisted of 13 nursing students and 3 teachers, with the supervision of Dr. Helmer Ju\u00e1rez, NCM Coordinator for CA-4 Field and Dr. Rene Rivas, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Coordinator for Guatemala. We also had the participation of 3 young volunteers as interpreters.<\/p>\n

Medical evaluation of the children was conducted. We installed clinics in 5 different places in the departments of Quetzaltenango and Retalhuleu. Medicines were provided free of charge and school supplies were distributed to each child in the different communities where the program takes place. The Program\u2019s administration will follow up on the recommendations made by doctors and the problems we encountered in general.<\/p>\n
